Feb. 20 Picks For the Day

Yesterday's record 1 - 1

Well, Utah fell shy of the glory losing to Oregon State in the last few seconds of the game. Of course, they didn't even really matter for bettors who took to spread. On the other hand, we did come away with a win. The Western Conference All-Stars did their thing! Better luck with tonight's picks.

Tonight matchups:

Appalachian State  VS.  Troy

Boston College  VS.  Florida St

Miami   VS.  Virginia

Tonight's NCAA Picks

Troy -7

Troy looked good against Coastal Carolina, beating them 87-78. It was their third straight win and now the fight continues to the Sun Belt Tournament. They'll look to avenge a sweep by a not-so-strong and struggling Appalachian State. Troy's chances look very good tonight!

Boston College +20

Florida State was not too impressive to me in their loss to Pittsburgh. They looked pretty mediocre as their points per game don't give me any indication that they will cover these points. An important fact to note is that Florida State has not covered 3 out of 4 games after a loss to a conference rival. Boston College actually has a better 'spread' record for my taste. Boston College has proven in the last name games that they are a pretty safe pick. They are 7-2 ATS (against the spread).

 Virginia +4

Tonight's game has promises of being a very exciting one with both of these teams having twin records in ACC games. Virginia did drop their last three games giving Miami an identical conference record to theirs. Miami has won 4 of its last 5 games but my suffer after losing two starting guards from the previous year. After a heartbreaking loss to their in-state rivals on Feb. 12, Virginia is looking to play more solid basketball in the future and can possibly come away with a win tonight.

Today's NCAA Pick

Pick Utah to cover the spread in tonight's game

The Utah Utes are 17-9 overall while being 8-6 in the Pac 12 conference. With the potential to finish in the top four in the conference, they're also looking for a bye in the first round of the PAC 12 tournament. Tonight they'll be traveling to Corvalis to challenge the Oregon State Beavers.

The Beavers don't seem to pose a real threat to the Utes. The beavers opened up the season poorly by performing at a very low level in conference play -- and mediocre in non-conference play. When 6'8" forward Tres Tinkle broke his wrist in the seventh game, that pretty much ended their season. Tinkle is also the coach's son.

The Beavers may have a couple (or few) more weapons, but still not enough talent to sustain Utah. Thompson, Eubanks, and McLaughlin are all good players. They will have to step their game up for the beavers to have any chance tonight.

On the other side of that coin, Kuzma may not get to play tonight. Kuzma missed Thursday night's game against Oregon due to having a sprained ankle. Utah will miss Kuzma's double-double producing ability tonight. However, his availability will be determined at beginning of the game.

Oregon blasted Utah the other night and the Utes will be looking for redemption against their lesser opponents. I believe Utah will get the job done tonight. Their chances for a BYE really depend upon it. Good luck making tonight's bet.

Tonight's NCAA Pick: Utah -12.5

Tonight's NBA All-Star Game

Normally I don't even bet own all-star games. Nor would I suggest you do it. I think it's all a bunch of bullshit! It is fun to watch, though. If you must bet, go with the Western squad tonight.

Tonight's NBA Pick: Western Conference -6.5
